Cable car to Big Mountain

Ho May Park is a hillside leisure park on Nui Lon, the Big Mountain, at 1A Tran Phu in Vung Tau. The way up is a cable car, which runs there and back as part of the main package. At the top you find the park with its play areas, and the whole thing can take a couple of hours, depending on how many of the attractions you want to try.

For most visitors the cable car is the point. It lifts you over the green slope of the mountain and gives you a view across the city and the sea. Ho May Park is a paid attraction run by a private operator, and the sections below explain the packages, the prices and the practical details.

Ho May Park ticket prices

Two prices for the same package, and a smaller package too.

The operator shows the full package online at 475,000 VND for adults and 237,500 VND for children. The page shows the category as out-of-province, and it has no date. The package includes the cable car there and back, a visit to the park and the listed play areas. Food and drinks are not included.

A travel portal quotes a slightly higher price for the same full package, 500,000 VND for adults and 250,000 VND for children, with a data date of April 2026. We give both figures and do not read them as a price rise. Look at the price shown at checkout before you pay.

There is also a separate smaller package with the cable car both ways plus the Royal Garden, priced at 100,000 VND for adults and 50,000 VND for children, shown for 08:00 to 22:00. Do not treat it as the same thing as the full package, because it does not give open access to all attractions. Decide first whether you want only the ride and the garden, or the full park.

Height, not age

Child rates follow body height.

The operator sets the ticket category by height and not by age. Visitors taller than 1.30 m pay the adult rate. Children between 1.00 m and 1.30 m pay the child rate. Children below 1.00 m enter free of charge. A tall ten-year-old can therefore be charged as an adult, and a small one can pay the child rate.

If you travel with children close to a limit, measure them at home, and keep in mind that the staff at the gate decide. It is a good idea to arrive with a bit of time before you plan to ride the cable car.

Opening hours

The park and the play area close at different times.

According to the operator, the park is open daily from 08:00 to 22:00, and the play area from 08:00 to 18:00. No regular closing day is mentioned. This means that an evening visit is possible for the park, but the play attractions stop earlier. If you want to use the games, arrive in the morning or early afternoon, and plan the evening for the views.

Food and drinks cost extra, so eat before you go or budget for the cafes. Bring a hat and water, because the top of the mountain has little shade in the middle of the day. Whether every attraction runs until the park closes is something to ask on arrival.

Booking online

Payment and cancellation terms to read first.

When you buy on the operator's own page, the displayed policy asks for 100 percent payment in advance, and the cancellation rule shown there is also 100 percent of the booking value. Read the terms before you pay, and book for a day when you are sure of your plans. No extra online fee is listed separately, but that is not a guarantee that none will appear at checkout.

The ticket on the card above is a package sold through a travel marketplace. It lists the cable car both ways and the park activities in its description. Compare the terms and the price at checkout with the operator's page and choose the one that fits your day. If you only want the view from the top and not the games, the smaller package may be enough.

Do not count on a reduction for seniors or visitors with disabilities, and ask at the ticket desk if it matters to you.

Also on Big Mountain

What else is nearby.

The same mountain holds other sights, and a half day can combine them with the park. The White Palace, Bạch Dinh, is a colonial villa from 1898 at 6 Tran Phu, listed as a monument since 1992. Entry is 30,000 VND, or 15,000 VND reduced, according to an undated fee page of the museum. We do not give opening hours, because the museum pages disagree with each other. The Buddhist temple Thích Ca Phật Đài at 610 Tran Phu has been a protected monument since 1989.

Details on these and on other stops in town are on the things to do in Vung Tau page. If you plan to see the Christ statue as well, read about the other hill on the Christ statue and lighthouse page. For a day trip that includes sights, see the Vung Tau tours.
