Vung Tau tours at a glance
Vung Tau tours fall into four groups. Most are day trips that leave Saigon in the morning and return in the evening. Others are private tours with a guide, tours that start in Vung Tau itself, and shore excursions for ships that dock at Phu My port. All of them cover a similar set of places: the Christ statue, a beach, and often the White Palace and a meal.
Trips differ mainly in how you get to Vung Tau, who you share the vehicle with and which costs are included. Read the inclusions of each offer. A tour that starts in Vung Tau, for example, leaves the journey from Saigon to you.

Our picks: tours to Vung Tau
Most people do well with a day tour from Ho Chi Minh City, since transport, tickets and lunch are in the price. If you are already in Vung Tau, the private guided tour lets you set your own pace, but you arrange the journey yourself.

Day trips from Ho Chi Minh City
The classic way to see Vung Tau in one day.
Day tour with hotel pick-up
One popular day tour collects you at your hotel in the centre of District 1 and brings you back, with an air-conditioned vehicle, an English-speaking guide, the entrance fees, a Vietnamese-style lunch and bottled water. It runs about 10 to 11 hours. Tips are extra, and a date-dependent surcharge applies on certain dates, so read the important information before you book.
Full-day beach trip with a fixed meeting point
Another day trip of about 12 hours meets at 112 Tran Hung Dao in District 1 between 07:10 and 07:20. Transport by bus or van, a guide, the entrance fee, lunch at a local restaurant and a bottle of water are included. Pick-up options are listed separately, so check them if you want to be collected elsewhere.
These trips are tied to the timetable of the group, so you have less time at each stop than on a private day. For the road and the speedboat, see Ho Chi Minh to Vung Tau.
Vung Tau private tour
One private tour leaves Saigon with a pick-up in the central districts and a round trip by vehicle, with an English-speaking guide, entrance fees for the places on the programme, a seafood lunch at a beachfront restaurant and free time at the beach. It lasts 10 to 12 hours.
A second private tour starts in Vung Tau. An English-speaking guide takes you to the Christ statue, Bai Sau, Bai Truoc and the Shakyamuni Buddha statue over about 8 hours. The journey to Vung Tau and your meals are not included, so arrange the transfer first.
